COVID-19 Vaccine

Recommendation policies in the US have been in flux regarding the annual COVID-19 vaccine.
The Infectious Disease physician experts still clearly recommend annual COVID-19 vaccines for
all adults. In the state of Florida, this now requires a prescription. We can order this prescription

According to the Infectious Disease Society of America: “The COVID-19 vaccine is
recommended for everyone ages 6 months and older and is regularly updated to protect against
the currently circulating viral strains. It is especially important to get an updated COVID-19
vaccine if you are aged 65 and older, or if you are at high risk for severe COVID-19. COVID-19
vaccination has also been shown to lower your risk of developing long COVID.”

Contraindication to COVID-19 Vaccine:

-History of a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) after a previous dose or to a component of
the COVID-19 vaccine. Note: Do not vaccinate with the same COVID-19 vaccine type. May
administer the alternate COVID-19 vaccine type.
Precaution:
-Moderate or severe acute illness, with or without fever (Defer vaccination until the illness has
improved).
-Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) and multisystem inflammatory
syndrome in adults (MIS-A)
-History of myocarditis or pericarditis within 3 weeks after a dose of any COVID-19 vaccine
