Let’s Discuss Tick-Borne Encephalitis Vaccines. 

Three vaccine doses are needed to complete the series. Travelers are at increased risk if they plan to: 

Visit areas with tick-borne encephalitis when ticks are most active (April through November). 

Take part in outdoor activities in or near forested areas such as hiking, camping, hunting, fishing, or birdwatching. 

All vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers visiting parts of Europe and Asia where Tick-borne Encephalitis is found should avoid tick bites. 

Tick-Borne Encephalitis vaccines usually do require a prescription. Contraindications to Tick-borne Encephalitis Vaccines 

-A severe allergic reaction (ie anaphylaxis) to a previous TBE vaccine or to any component of the TBE vaccine (ie protamine sulfate, Neomycin, Gentamicin, chicken, chicken eggs)
